A very important task in making these archives work is to identify people in photos. One must use names recognizeable in the database. It is ok to use the formal name, e.g. Dr. Robert Harold House, but that's a lot to type, so we provide for "aliases". "Bob H" is sufficient to identify him. "Gladys" is a sufficiently unusual name that it is sufficient to identify Gladys Stroud. I see that "Bill" has snuck in as an alias, but I shouldn't have let that happen as it is too common a name. I cannot be "Carl House" because that is the precise formal name of my grandfather; "Carl H" is not distinct to me, so we'll arbitrarily rule that "Carl" is ok for me but not for my granddad. If you use an "alias" that is not in our list, then please notify Carl so he can make sure it is not being used by some revision of the database later than the one you have.
